
A fire broke out in the residence of Japanese Liberal Democratic Party Senator Kuniko Inoguchi last night (27th). Firefighters put out the fire early this morning, but two people in the house failed to escape, one died on the spot, and one died in hospital. It is speculated that it was Inoguchi’s husband Takashi Inoguchi and daughter, and Inoguchi herself was not at home at the time.
Takashi Inoguchi is a well-known political scholar. He was originally a professor at Sophia University. He entered politics and was elected to the House of Representatives in 2005. He served as Minister of Declining Birthrates and Gender Equality. In 2010, he ran for the Senate election. He is now in his third term and serves as the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs and Security Research Committee.
The residence of 72-year-old Kuniko Inoguchi is located in Koishikawa, Bunkyo District, Tokyo. It is a 6-story building. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department pointed out that the fire started on the 6th floor where Inoguchi’s family is located, and there is only one household on this floor. The fire brigade found a body indoors, and another person was rescued and sent to the hospital, but still could not be saved. Zhukou lived with her husband and two daughters. After the fire, her husband and one daughter lost contact. The police are investigating the cause of the fire and confirming the identities of the victims.
