Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Singapore’s Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Beijing on the afternoon of the 26th. The two sides also exchanged views on major issues of common concern such as the regional situation of Sino-US relations. Xi Jinping pointed out that next year will be the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two sides. The two sides should strengthen high-level exchanges, further strengthen the docking of development strategies, and deepen cooperation in various fields. He also said that “Singapore is welcome to continue to be a pioneer in cooperation with China.”

Lee Hsien Loong said that Singapore will continue to be committed to deepening cooperation with China and actively participate in the “Chinese-style modernization” process. He also mentioned that all countries should uphold a long-term vision, adhere to multilateralism, and be committed to unity and cooperation to jointly respond to risks and challenges and enhance the benefits of the people.

In addition, Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, also met with Lee Hsien Loong. Lee Hsien Loong said that the development momentum of bilateral relations is good. Next year, the two countries will usher in the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. “Singapore adheres to the one-China policy” and is willing to strengthen strategic communication with China and continuously improve the level and effectiveness of cooperation.
