Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel’s largest newspaper, reported today that Israel and Lebanon exchanged a draft ceasefire agreement through US envoy Amos Hochstein, indicating that the efforts of both sides to reach a final agreement have made progress. It also stated that Russia can prevent Hezbollah from rearming through Syria.
However, in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, a Hezbollah official said that diplomatic efforts are being intensified, and pointed out that the organization and the Lebanese government have not received any new ceasefire proposals.
Hezbollah spokesman Mohammed Afif said in a televised press conference: There are frequent exchanges and consultations between Washington, Moscow, Tehran and some capitals of countries.
He said: “I think we are still in the stage of probing, proposing preliminary ideas and active discussions, but no substantial results have been achieved yet.
