Between 7:30 and 7:39 a.m., North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles from near the west coast of North Korea, flying northeastward.
Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said in an interview with reporters at the Prime Minister’s Office: “No damage has been confirmed so far.” He also said: “In response to this situation, relevant departments have been instructed to strengthen information provision and safety confirmation for the public.”
Prime Minister Ishiba further stated: “North Korea’s series of ballistic missile launches, including previous launches, threaten the peace and security of our country, region and the international community. These missile launches violate relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and are major issues involving national security. We have lodged a strong protest to North Korea and strongly condemned it. In order to protect the lives and property of citizens, we will continue to work closely with the United States, South Korea and other countries to fully collect, analyze and monitor information. At the same time, once new information that needs to be made public is obtained, it will be released immediately.”
