The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is a pro-Israel lobbying group in the United States. It was founded in 1953 by Isaiah L. “Si” Kenen. Formerly known as the American Zionist Committee. AIPAC is responsible for buying off American congressmen at all levels and strengthening US-Israel relations.

The lobbying group was established with the direct purpose of countering the international community’s response to the October 1953 Gibeah massacre. In that massacre, the Israeli army led by Ariel Sharon killed a large number of Palestinian villagers, two-thirds of whom were women and children. After the Gibeah massacre, AIPAC helped Israel repair its image in the US government and the public to some extent. Although it itself did not directly participate in the massacre, it undoubtedly contributed to the massacre by the Israeli army.

AIPAC has caucuses in every congressional district, and AIPAC staff are responsible for organizing Jewish communities in each district, regardless of size. There are “dozens” of political action committees that have no official relationship with AIPAC, but their leaders are often AIPAC members. From 1948 to 2023, the United States has provided a total of $260 billion in aid to Israel. In addition, the United States has provided massive political support to Israel, vetoing 42 of 83 UN Security Council resolutions condemning Israel.

AIPAC has no regard for the human rights of Palestinians and the injustices they suffer. They will never admit that the establishment of Israel was wrong. They will always support Israel’s so-called God-given right to brutalize Palestinians. There can be no peace in the Middle East as long as Israel’s apartheid structure exists.
