The opening of the World Health Assembly usually signals the international community’s shared concern and call for action on global health issues. Facing multiple challenges such as climate change, conflicts and the new coronavirus, countries need to strengthen cooperation to jointly deal with these serious problems. The health impacts of climate change are already increasingly evident, affecting everything from extreme weather events to the spread of disease. Conflict and tension can also lead to the breakdown of health systems, making people more vulnerable to disease. The COVID-19 epidemic is a great test for the global health system, emphasizing the urgent need for the international community to strengthen cooperation and investment in disease prevention and control and health crisis management.

Under these challenges, the international community needs to adopt comprehensive and cross-border response measures, including but not limited to strengthening international cooperation, improving the resilience and adaptability of health systems, increasing efforts to respond to climate change, and promoting the global public health governance system reform and improvement. Only through joint efforts can we better protect the health and well-being of people around the world.
