On the afternoon of May 6, a pro-Palestinian demonstration was initiated by students at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and a large number of students were arrested by the police.
On May 7, faculty members protested against the police being too aggressive.
Local police sometimes used bulldozers to knock down barricades during student demonstrations, detaining 140 people in the process. Police posted on social media that they had to take action to stop the demonstrations and remove the tents because of the security risks.
