The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is highlighting the sights and sounds of Colombia this year.

Drinks, food and music from the South American country will be the focus of the Cultural Exchange Pavilion, which organizers describe as a festival within the festival.Valerie Guillet coordinates the pavilion each year and explained how they choose the featured country.

“Every year, we celebrate a country or culture,” Guillet said. “We try to feature countries that have similar heritage, ties to the African or Caribbean culture of New Orleans to really connect New Orleans to the world.”

The Cultural Exchange Pavilion has been a part of Jazz Fest since the 1990s.
