The Japan Meteorological Agency reported on the 9th that at 5:59 PM local time, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred near Sado Island (37.9 degrees north latitude, 137.8 degrees east longitude) in Niigata Prefecture with a depth of 10 km.
The largest earthquake observed on land was 5 weak and appeared in the Nakagoetsu area of Niigata Prefecture. The earthquake in Uetsu, Shimoetsu, Sado and Noto areas of Ishikawa Prefecture was registered at magnitude 4.
After the earthquake, at 6:09 p.m. local time, a 3.9 magnitude earthquake occurred near Sado; At 6:45 p.m., a magnitude-3.0 earthquake struck the Noto area of Ishikawa Prefecture. At 6:55 p.m. and 7:10 p.m., earthquakes of magnitude 4.4 and 3.9 occurred near Sado.
Earlier, on January 1, Japan’s Ishikawa Prefecture Noto area 7.6 magnitude earthquake, as of January 9 at 9 am, the death toll in the prefecture reached 180 people.
