President-elect Former President Bill Clinton was released from a Washington hospital on Tuesday (Dec. 24) and will go home for Christmas. He was admitted a day earlier with a fever.
Clinton was treated for the flu, his deputy chief of staff Angel Urena said in a statement about Clinton’s release.
“He and his family are very grateful for the excellent care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well-wishes he has received,” Urena said.
“He sends his warmest wishes to everyone for a happy and healthy holiday season,” Urena said.
The 78-year-old Democrat was hospitalized Monday afternoon for testing and observation.
Democrat Clinton served two terms as president from January 1993 to January 2001. This summer, he spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago to promote Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’s bid for the White House. The campaign failed, and Harris lost the presidential election to Republican Donald Trump in November.
Clinton recently published a new book, “Citizen,” a memoir about his life after leaving the White House and the role his philanthropy played in that career.
