
The French Ministry of Culture released a list of jewelry and items stolen from the Louvre on October 19th. Thieves stole jewelry worth millions of dollars, many of which were of priceless historical significance. The thieves reportedly used a small electric saw and angle grinder, and the robbery lasted approximately seven minutes.
French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the Louvre jewelry theft on the evening of the 19th, calling it a serious violation of France’s cherished cultural heritage and a threat to the nation’s history and memory. He stated that the government is fully committed to investigating the case and recovering the stolen items, and will pursue legal action against those responsible under the leadership of the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office.
