According to Agence France-Presse, The Guardian, and other media outlets, Qatar’s Al Jazeera reported that Israel launched an attack on a tent in Gaza City on the 10th, killing two of its journalists and three photographers. The Guardian reported that the dead included prominent Al Jazeera journalist Anas Sharif. Following the incident, the Israeli military confirmed the attack, which drew condemnation from Al Jazeera, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and other parties.
Al Jazeera described Sharif as a prominent journalist who had reported extensively from northern Gaza. The Guardian reported that in January of this year, following the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, Sharif removed his body armor during a live broadcast and celebrated the temporary cessation of hostilities surrounded by dozens of Gazans. This action attracted widespread attention. In July, Sharif told the Committee to Protect Journalists that he “felt like he could be bombed at any moment.”
