The 2024 Mountain States Arts and Crafts Fair will showcase juried artisans from across West Virginia and Appalachia, live music, cultural heritage displays and food.
An opening day ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 4 at 1 p.m., and in addition to the craftspeople, the fair features fan-favorite events such as a patchwork show sponsored by the fabric and gift shop. This year’s event will also feature a pie baking contest, glass blowing, tinware making, cooking and gardening demonstrations. A kids’ fishing derby offers youngsters a chance to catch some fish.
Live music is another big draw, featuring some of the best bluegrass musicians and foragers, while storytellers preserve the oral tradition and remind visitors that this art form of communication has been replaced by technology.
Traditional foods, such as stone-ground cornmeal and applesauce cooked over an open fire, will be for sale. In addition, a variety of food vendors will offer more modern favorites.
