
President Donald Trump began taking the series of executive actions he promised on his first day in office. Through the first batch of memoranda and orders, Trump rescinded dozens of actions of former President Joe Biden and withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, etc. He also said that he pardoned hundreds of people involved in the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
On the trade front, Trump said he expected to impose a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico from February 1, but refused to disclose specific plans to tax Chinese imports. Trump also signed an order aimed at suspending Congress’s ban on TikTok for 75 days.
In addition, Trump announced the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization, declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, and planned to send U.S. troops to help support immigration authorities and restrict refugees and asylum.
