At around 5:15 local time, multiple collisions occurred on a section of road in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, involving trucks, buses and cars.
The fire department said the accident involved 4 rear-end collisions of 6 vehicles, 1 rear-end collision of 3 vehicles, 6 rear-end collisions of 2 vehicles and 5 separate accidents. One driver was seriously injured and has been sent to the hospital for treatment. The police said that the car collision accident was caused by icy roads.
The police and fire departments are handling the accident and carrying out road cleaning work, spraying the snow-melting agent calcium chloride on the icy sections of the road.
